“Be kind to one another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, as God in Christ forgave you.”
-Ephesians 4:32

Welcome! As you embark on your journey to uncover the vegan within, be encouraged to always thirst for knowledge. I thank God for my journey and hope yours also includes a restoration of your mind, body, and spirit. Motivate yourselves daily to always seek truth and remain humble.
Between my culture, my family, church family and friends, food has always been the center of every gathering…and there have been many! It only feels natural for me to cook, entertain, create, and enjoy food. My mother, father and aunts have truly inspired me in this regard.
Although I was not always vegan my entire life, I can say that I never consumed shellfish (shrimp, crabs etc.). Also, I have never indulged in swine either…among other things. This, due to religious purposes – thanks mom! In fact, that detail about me has always surprised many people because of my culture. I am Puerto Rican, and some consider eating pork to be a kind of prerequisite. I’ve had people say to me before, “I’ve never met a Puerto Rican that doesn’t eat pork…no pernil…never??” …Yep, that happened.
In 2010, I changed to a vegetarian diet to mirror my husband-Seth’s diet at the time. In 2011, after watching Earthlings, we (as a family) immediately transitioned to a vegan diet. It was an instant lifestyle change, which reflects how powerful that movie was for us. I love documentaries, researching and just have a passion for learning.
I met my match in Seth, not only is he my best friend; his thirst for knowledge has always inspired me. He’s also an ardent photographer and truly a great writer.
Our journey brought us to become vegan. While continuing my family’s legacy with a love and passion for food, I’m creating my own now through vegan food, recipes, and this blog. Become addicted to your well-being, be compassionate. Ignorance is not bliss…it is just ignorance.

Feed your mind, body and get passionate about your life and soul. Thank you for visiting!

“Life in the open air is good for body and mind. It is God’s medicine for the restoration of health. Pure air, good water, sunshine, the beautiful surroundings of nature—these are His means for restoring the sick to health in natural ways…”
-Testimonies for the Church, vol. 7, p. 85.3 (Ellen G. White)

    Hi, Jessica.
I am not one bit vegan – in fact, I am resolutely omnivorous – but I love your recipes because despite the fact that I practically everything, tentacles and all, we have reduced animal protein in recent years and I’m always on the lookout for new ways to eat greens or for things I’ve never eaten.
    Keep those recipes coming!

      Hi Deborah,
Thank you so much for stopping by! I truly appreciate it. I’m always trying to create new and healthy recipes. I just posted a new recipe using an ingredient that was recently new to me; I too love trying things I’ve never eaten before. It is amazing how a new ingredient can quickly become a favorite. As you continue to research and explore healthier selections I’m sure you’ll quickly find there are a lot of wholesome and nourishing options/additions for you to consider. It is great to hear about you reducing animal protein in recent years! I don’t know your reasons for reducing your animal protein intake, but I can say the food industry has changed significantly over the years. I hope to continue to inspire you to connect with your body. Continue to eat as a preventative and continue researching and learning. Thank you again for stopping by and sorry for the delay in my response.

Hi! Thanks for sharing your story with us! I’m an aspiring vegan and vegetarian of 19 years this year. My husband has been vegetarian for about 6 years. Going to browse around a bit & of course I’ll be following you😊 I look forward to your posts!

Thanks for stopping by! Our household has been vegan going on 5 years now including our children. Thanks for looking around, let me know if you have any questions, but it sounds like you got this… being that you educated me on those vegan eggs already. 🙂

Thankyou so much for liking my blog post! You get a follow in return ^_^ I really appreciate what you’re doing – I will probably never make the jump to being full vegan but I am always trying to live (and eat) more ethically! I gave up eating piggy-wigs last year (for non-religious reasons :D) and so far I haven’t missed it, so who knows? Keep up the good work and I hope I can give something back!
