These Easy Homemade Churros can be made quickly. The ingredients are ones you most likely already have readily available in the pantry. These are sweet and crisp, and soft on the inside. These Easy Homemade Churros make a great snack or dessert. Today is Valentine’s Day and if you celebrate, these make a wonderful sweet treat.
Frying Ideas:
I fried these Easy Homemade Churros two ways. The traditional way, using a piping bag or pastry bag. However, if you do not have this readily available, I also rolled them into balls. Either way, these are a delight! These Churros should be served fresh from the fryer, just after tossing them in the cinnamon/sugar mixture. As with all fried recipes, they are best served fresh from the fryer. For this full recipe below, I divided dough in half and created about 20 Churros and 40 Churro Balls.
For the sugar in this recipe, I used raw cane sugar. I also added vanilla extract for extra sweetness. I created this recipe super quick with ingredients I had on-hand. However, in the future I plan to re-work this recipe and may add some vegan butter for richness.
I really hope you try this recipe, I’m pretty sure you have these ingredients. Enjoy!
Ingredients:
2 Cups of Water
3 Tbsp of Sugar
1/2 Tsp Salt
1/4 Cup Canola Oil
1/2 Tsp Vanilla Extract
1/4 Tsp Baking Powder
2 Cups of All-Purpose Flour
Additional Oil for Frying
Topping:
2/3 Cup Sugar
1 1/2 Tsp Ground Cinnamon
Chocolate Sauce, optional
1 Cup of Chocolate Chips (I used Enjoy Life brand)
3 Tbsp of Soymilk
Directions:
-In a saucepan, combine water, sugar (3 Tbsp), salt, canola oil and baking powder. Heat to a boil.

-Remove from heat, stir in flour until combined. This mixture will form a ball.

-Set aside the mixture and allow it to cool until you can handle it.
-In a separate bowl, combine the topping ingredients (sugar/cinnamon). Set aside.

-In a pan, heat enough oil to fry the Churros to about 375 to 400 degrees F.

-The Churros can be fried in two ways. Be sure to fry in batches not to overcrowd the pan.
-If you have a pastry/piping bag available, add the Churro dough to a pastry bag with a large star tip. Then pipe about 4-inches to 6-inches of dough into the hot oil and fry for about 5 minutes until golden.

-If you do not have a pastry bag, roll a small amount into a ball. About a tablespoon is enough. Then fry the dough balls in the hot oil for 5 to 10 minutes until golden.

-Turn the Churros as you are frying halfway through for even cooking.

-Remove the Churros to a paper towel to drain excess oil. Then toss in the cinnamon/sugar mixture.
-For the chocolate sauce, in a small bowl combine the chocolate chips and soymilk (or other non-dairy milk). Heat in the microwave at 30 second intervals until smooth. I will typically fry in three intervals.

-Enjoy!
